FMS 2.0 Alpha 8.5 - Logitech Wingman Rumble Pad Problem

Postby Vince101 » Sat Dec 18, 2004 9:02 pm

If I try to use FMS 2.0 Alpha 8.5 version with my Logitech
Wingman Rumble Pad I cannot use the manual throttle slider control consistently on the front of the Pad. It will work at first and then if I turn the throttle speed down it hangs up
and nothing works. I can get it to work only if I reload the
program. Sometimes I can get it work by reloading the model
or landscape. The FMS 2.0 Beta 7 version works fine, no problems. I am using Windows XP with SP2. I have tried
this on 2 different computers with same setup and I get
the same results. Any ideas why Beta 7 works and Alpha 8.5
does not would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Vince

Helge,

Thank You for your reply concerning my problem with the FMS Alpha 8.5 version. I will try what you suggested!

Helge,

I tried your suggestion for using the F-27 Stryker Model and it works everytime for me with the Alpha 8.5 version.
I also tried the FKStick8 Model and it does have the problem
with the throttle. If I hit the "I" key it will usually reinitialize
it. Sometimes I have to hit the "I" key a couple times to get
it to work. I think you are correct in that it looks like the
models are what is causing the problem. I will try some
other models for 8.5 and see what I get for results.

Thanks Agian,

Vince

If you can get it running with the "I" key you might try this.
Choose Options from the Simulation menu then set "Auto Initialize after crash".
There are some models which appear to be set too low or high in relation to their contact points, and the first thing they do when you load them is trigger the crash routine. If you don't have "auto initialize" chosen for the option, you must manually reinitialize them.
If you have Auto Initialize chosen when you load one of these planes, The plane model will repeatedly crash and reinitialize automatically until you advance the throttle slightly.
If you would rather not choose this option to solve the problem, then another fix may be to advance the throttle slightly before you hit the "I" key.

With the Alpha 8 series models, if you chop the throttle to all the way off it will not re-start, just like a real gas/glow powered R/C plane. You can not restart in the air. On the electric planes the motor will restart.
