Colco ThunderBird Heli

I bought a Colco ThunderBird Heli that came with a serial cable but the 6 channel transmitter (CLC) won't work with FMS.
I sent to China and got Colco's CLCII ThunderBird simulator software but it won't work either. Keeps telling me it's "unable to detect transmitter adapter" even when I use the Win98 compatibility feature. I have WinXP Pro
Can anybody help me with this problem?

I had the same problem. I couldn't get the x-mitter to interface with FMS. I couldn't get the helicopter to fly either and have since sold it. I recommend that you get an inexpensive, analalog, usb game pad and practise hovering. But I found that hovering the FMS helicopter models rediculously easy. I never could get the Colco to hover, much less get it off the ground. I realized that to get this thing to fly would require dumping a bunch of money into it with upgraded motors, electronics, blades and figured what the ####, if I wanted to spend 400 bucks on a micro heli that everybody says flys I would have bought a Piccolo. I had the same problem with the 8.5 version for XP on my inspiron 4150 laptop. The CLC TX does not respond at all so I had to do some serious mods to the transmitter and the cable to get it to work. If you have some electronic background, can program a PIC microcontroller, and don't mind doing some mods to your transmitter, let me know and I can help you. Or I can do it for you for free, just pay for the needed components and shipping. It works perfect and won't affect in anyway to the TX normal operations.
