What version of FMS is the best for windows XP Pro - Just downloaded Alpha 8.3 and...

Is the Alpha 8.3 the newest hottest version of FMS or should I download Beta 7?


I can only get the SU-32 acrobatic airplane and no others, what should I do to get different plane models to fly? Also I have noticed that the up/down arrow keys act as elevator control and the left/right arrow keys act as the rudder, is this something new?

I am also having problems with the plane flying to far away from me to see it anymore... this makes it very hard to put in the correct flight controls. Thanks for any help as I am a complete flying newbie and am not very good with the computer yet. It is a Dell XPS desktop pc with windows XP Pro.

Yes, alpha 8.3 is the latest and best for XP.

Arrow keys have always work as you've noticed. Ailerons are J and K keys. Just remember not to hold the keys down. They work best if you touch and release them rapidly as they better approximate an analog joystick.

A dual analog stick like the Saitek P880 is a nice $20 upgrade or $30 - $50 for a cable to attach your transmitter. Make sure it's XP capable.

Lots of models available in the download section for FMS version 7 and 8 at . Just remember that version 7 models don't understand steering on the ground and wind.

Click the AutoZoom feature so the model doesn't get too small when flying away from you. The only problem then is usually losing a reference view with the ground elements.
