turn your model side ways and select surfaces with the square. You should able to select "select surfaces" then just select the face. Do a search for Renderosity. it is an art sight that I have found a lot of help at.

wow! It did work. The sequence then was like this

.- select the object (Sel Obj)
.- set material to faces

pretty straight forward. I do not understand why is that the instructions in the link (see above) did not work for me. Thanks for the hint.

On the other hand, I went to Renderosity and looks like a pretty interesting site with all those fantastic renderings. But they do no seem to care about Metasequoia. Why is that you mention it?

Yes, some times those tutorials bafelled me. Beware, Metasequoia 2.1 can strip your skins when you load an object. Metasequoia 2.3 is a much better program, but untill you regester it you can only export .mqo files. And it can only be regestered in Japan; aargh!!!!
