Thrust flyer? - Can FMS simulate a motor only plane?

Hi,

I have been playing with and enjoying FMS for a couple of months, and finally got good enough at it (20 minutes on most models without crashing) to buy a real R/C plane, a little electric park flyer. A few flights with the plane have been really successful, but on a windy day I would like to be able to sit at the PC and practice. None of the planes appear to be thrust only models. My little plane has two motors which use differential thrust for turning, so the rudder/elevator/aileron model doesn't really apply.

If FMS8 can handle this case, does anyone know of a model anywhere I could have a look at? Maybe this is such a newbie or special case thing that it doesn't exist?

This can be modeled best as a 2 channel plane. One channel for throttle and the other for rudder. Increasing the throttle will make the model rise while turning the rudder will make the turns. You'll need to adjust the physics of the model in the .par file to more closely approximate the actual turning of the model.

There may be a way to mix the throttle and rudder to do what you want too but I've not been successful trying it yet.

Thanks for the reply. That sounds like it should work, and it'll be fun to get my little plane into 'the game'. Unlike Monday afternoon where I got my little plane into a tree. Hee hee. Windier than I thought...
