FMS V8.2 sounds better every day, but I've collected and carefully tweaked many aircraft and landscapes in V7. So, I respectfully ask if those who know would please take some time and answer several questions:
Can V8 be downloaded and installed on the same PC as V7 without messing up the registry? Or will an uninstall of V7 be required - as before? I have 2-drives, with FMS and other RC sims on C, and MS fs9 on F; both drives have lots of room left.
Roman's recent answer to a post seemed to say yes, but not necessary, as V8 can now "see" V7 models. My greatest concern is for the model and landscape files disappearing, and I would like to be able to use both V7 and V8 on the same machine.
If not possible or practical and V7 must be uninstalled, can just the model and landscape files be copied and saved? - I have a Firewire CD burner (can be used internally or externally) that's new and unused. I purchased that to copy and save all my simulator files when I accumulate the hardware for a new PC (much faster, etc. than my current machine), but that's not likely until the fall.
If V8 is all that is practical on the PC, can the current V7 model and landscape files be copied or moved into V8 -
I'm assuming that downloading V8 will create its own model and landscape folders?
Sorry about the length, but obsessiveness has its "rewards".
Thanks for any replies (in advance).
