Can I run from CD-ROM? - Trapped on a an NT box at work.

I am trapped on an PC running NT at the office. No graphics programs run on it because there's no DirectX library for NT.

What's the best option to run FMS at work? Can I boot off a Win98 CD-ROM and then run FMS from the hard-drive? Or will FMS find and garble some important NT registry entries? Can Win98 read an NT hard drive? Can I run FMS from a CD-ROM?

Should I boot to DOS?

I'd appreciate tips from anyone who's had to tackle this issue. I can see a ton of trial and error ahead of me.

Well, I've made some initial discoveries that sort of limit the possible solutions. According to the Help pages on the Nero CD Burning software, neither Win98 or NT can be booted from a CD. Only DOS can be booted from read-only media.

A bootable DOS CD has an image of a floppy disk on it, so you don't get any advantage from the extra space on the disc. But space doesn't seem to be an issue with the older DOS versions of FMS.

Does anyone recall the difference between ver. 1.51 and 1.60? I need to learn some German to test 1.60!
