Still have the ATI problem with 7.5.1

Postby Rodney » Wed Dec 24, 2003 6:31 am

I tried the alpha version 7.5.1, but I still have the commonly reported ATI card issue where the sim freezes until you get so high above ground level. I have a 9600 Pro, with direct X 9,0b.

What Catalyst drivers are you using? I'm interested to know if the new Cat 3.10 drivers fix the problem.

Hi,
I recently installed Catalyst 3.10. It does not fix the problem in any way.
And instead of fixing it, it adds one more smaller bug! ???

When flying high enough to avaoid this freezing you can sometimes see a large rectangle flickering in the left or right lower corner of the window.
This appears more often when you fly vis-a-vis with the horizon...

Let's hope that Roman and Michael will finish their new graphics-engine soon! :)

I just went to ATI's website and downloaded the latest driver, and now FMS works with my 9600 Pro. I am not sure what the catalyst version is, but the driver shows as version: 6.14.10.6404.

*EDIT* - Never mind, it worked the first time I ran it, but now it has the same old problem again.

I'm now also one of those with ATI problems. I got an ATI RADEON 9800 PRO yesterday. It's great.. just not in FMS.. I have the same problems as mentioned above.. and I'm using catalyst 3.10.

I thought that the problem with flying low, could be that the aircraft was lower than some parts of the landscape.. so I tried to fly on a completely flat landscape.. but it doesn't help.

Anyone who have a clue what might be wrong ? I mean.. anyone who knows what in the code of FMS that messes things up ? Have the authors said anything about these problems ?... Are they alive ? It is seldom they post something about the development.. if there is any development.. :0
