Posting Scenery

Postby Perry » Sat Sep 27, 2003 1:13 am

I Have some new scenery I would like to post but don't know where to upload it.
I dont' have a website where I can post it, so I can't give you a link to it either.
If anyone could give me a hand with this and point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Hiya Perry,

If you want I can host it for you at my website (www.freewebs.com/fmsusers). You would be named as the author and it wouldn't cost you a penny. Email me at:

fmsmodels@homail.com

If you are interested.

Kind Regards - Trvo

Thanks for your generosity. I appreciate it.
I will attempt to upload it in the next few days.
I already did attempt it but your mailbox was full.
Maybe I should be a bit more candid as to what you are getting. There are actually 2 scenes, one a day scene and the other a night scene. The day scene 1080K and the night 966K. Both are zipped.
I know these are fairly large but please view them before you make a quick judgement. There are bridges, a farmhouse, barn, church, lake, pond, waterfall, wharf, sailboat, hanger, hotair balloon, and the night scene has runway lights with glide slope indicators at the end of each runway.
So there is a reason they are large.
You still want them?

Perry,

These scenes sound wonderful, and more complex than most of the available sceneries for FMS. Thank you for the effort, even before the work is seen.

Trvo, It would be great if you could handle the hosting of Perry's scenes, they sound like something that can add to the usefulness of FMS. And clearly, your work with FMS, and your website have become something to be looked at often. Thank you for your efforts, and I'm sure I can speak for all of us who enjoy FMS and its many additions.

Thermals,

Stew

OK
I used to manage a web site a while back and discovered it was still active after over a year of not updating it. Talk about cluttered machines!
I posted the Landscape files to that web site.

Take the liberty to DL and post them to other sites if you want.
Hope you enjoy them.

Hiya,

I have just downloaded and tried your scenery, and it is fantastic to say the least. Great Job!! I shall post them on my site if you still don't mind, you probably couldn't email them to me because it has a maximum of 500kb at a time.

Keep up the good work!

Hi. Perry,

I was waiting anxiously for your landscape to become available after you posted a description the other day; I became visibly agitated when it was actually posted, and jumped up and down after reading Trvo's comments. But after downloading both files, I was unable to unzip either; I'm using Stuffit 8.0, which I have always used for zip files, and have never seen any error message before.

The error message is: "Is archive encrypted error... Engine error: Format Attribute Not Available" - this message is meaningless to me, and I was distraught by that time anyway, but tried again. However, after several tries, the message is still the same.

Any thoughts on this or advice would be greatly appreciated.

And, of course, thank you for the effort you've put into this landscape - I'm sure I'll get to see it eventually.

Thermals,

Stew

Perry,

I was able to solve my problem with Stuffit, but had to download Winzip to unlock your landscape files; they are superb, to say the least. There certainly is something for everyone as Peter4 said, and the number of items, as well as the many layers is spectacular.

Kudos and congratulations on creating these wonderful files. And additionally, I don't think anyone would mind if you felt like creating more great sceneries for FMS.

Again, thanks.

Stew

Thanks for the Kudus and Congrats, I'm glad you like them.
Sorry I couldn't reply sooner but I ran over my 10 free hours for the month. ???
Yes post them wherever you like. The best things in life are free.
And yes I used Winzip to compress them though I didn't realize that Winzip locked them. Sorry you had trouble with it, I will look into it.
I'm working on another scene but it's a far cry from done. It will involve a looping water race track and I will upload a Hydroplane with it. But have patience. These things take time
which appears to be in short supply.

Hey,

I looking forward to seeing the next one, sounds like it is going to be fun. I have now got your landscape set it to default because it is so good.

Keep up the good work

Yes Perry, time is in short supply in many ways, particularly as we try to cram more wants, needs, desires, etc. into the "space" available. However, this in no way diminishes the need for more, and increasingly complex landscapes for FMS.

As far as the unzipping problem I had, I'm not sure what the cause was , whether it was Winzip related, or my set up - using Stuffit. But I've unzipped many downloads before, though I do not know how they were zipped to begin with. However, I can always download Winzip if necessary, and I think I'll buy it next time.

We'll wait...
