Hi jdmartin8,
within the directory ...fms20b6\model for each model (e.g. a model named 'piper') there must be the following 4 files:
'piper. par' (containing all aerodynamic paramerters)
'piper.geo' (containing the models' shape)
'piper.bmp' (containing surface texture and painting)
'piper.wav' (containing the engine's sound)
If you have a new model without any soundfile FMS uses the last sound loaded into the program (or the default sound loaded at startup).
To create a sound for a new model just copy the sound of another model matching to the new model, e.g. copy 'pitts.wav' to 'piper.wav' and your piper then will sound like the pitts.
But sometimes I had a fault just as you describe, too. Although all files were present together as described above and were running at earlier sessions sometimes the last sound was kept when changing to any other model. In most of these cases terminating and restarting FMS solved the problem. I think, this is a bug within FMS20beta6 (and presumably hardly to fix).
Regards
