What interface for a FF7 and wn XP - What interface can I build best, and how

Hello,

I just found out about FMS, and i already love it

But now I want to make a cable and an interface to use my radio for flying.

My questions:
1) What kind of interface do I have to use for windows XP in combination with my Robbe/Futaba FieldForce 7 radio.
2) Where can I find the information about how to build it?
3) What pins do I need from my trainer/buddy plug?

I apreciate all the help, because I found a lot of information, but I seem to have lost myself in it ???

1. PIC serial interface OR Joystick interface
2. PIC Serial documentation comes with FMS in Doc/Interface
3. Pin 2(signal) and screen (ground)

For either interface you need to be able to program a PIC microcontroller. Otherwise it might be easier to just buy one.

Thee's also a "Smartpropo" interface which I believe uses your sound card but I don't know much about that.

Hmm, I think I'll try the smart probo solution

But let me see if I get this right.
I can connect pin 2 and shield of my buddy socket to my line in of my sound card (trough a potentiometer 10kOhm), and use the probo dll......hmmm sounds easy.

But I still cant find two things:
1) At what level should the signal be adjusted (to keep my sound card alive )
2) What pins of my Robbe/Futaba FF7 budy socked do I need to connect to disable the TX?

Hmm I seem to be one of those unlucky cases where smartprobo won''t work on XP.

Well up to the pic interface.... :p

But it still leaves one question:

What pins of my Robbe/Futaba FF7 budy socked do I need to connect to disable the HF transmission?
