Which Transmitter?

Hi All,
Did not want to flood the Interface forums so thought I would ask this here....

Unlike most I do not have a transmitter (My last R/C was a Mcgreagor single channel with wind up Escapement) :0 so this question is the opposite to most requests. Looking on "ebay" etc I see lots of transmitters at the right price and was wondering what I should look for. Which are known to work with most of the Interfaces available. I plan on buying the "R/C USB Interface" detailed in the Joystick Interface Forum from "Customelectronics" but might move on to a more specific interface later on. Are there any specific questions I should ask the seller about the Buddy connection etc?

It's better to choose your Tx on the basis of what you're going to use it for unless you want it ONLY for FMS and will never fly a real model with it.

Having said that Futaba and Hitec are the easiest to interface (slightly). But provided you make sure it has at least 4 channels and a trainer socket any of the mainstream makes should be o.k.

Damm where did all those cheap trannys go I was looking at last week.....

Thanks for the reply, Yes at present this is just for fun, Perhaps I will move onto the "real thing" if time permits sometime in the future but for now this is just for R/C sims. One further question Forgive my ignorance... If the unit was missing the "RF" pack and therefore cannot transmit does this matter to me?

Most of the cheap Txs you see are not the modular type but if they are then no, you don't need the RF module. You don't need a crystal or an antenna. Watch out if you are offered a "buddy box" though, they often don't have a battery and you do need a battery (or DC power supply to replace it).
