FMS calbibration

Postby jack flash » Sun Dec 12, 2010 12:25 pm

I have a Planet 5 Advanced FHSS 2.4Gz TX supplied with a Twister helicopter. Also included is a USB cable to connect this Tx to FMS. My laptop has Windows XP. The connection works until I need to calibrate the sticks for fixed wing or heli's but I am unable to get a connection. Can anyone help

Please verify that your USB cable is for simulator use as some of the cables are setup for transmitter programming only.

I bought this helicopter Tx, charger, mains charger and USB cable from Elite Models in Kent. The specification mentions the USB cable and I quote "Flight simulator USB cable included. Designed so that you can fly on the free FMS simulator first using this lead connected to this Tx. When you are ready simply disconnect and fly your model" The cable plugs into the socket at the back of the Tx marked trainer. Should I take this up with the model shop and/or J R Perkins the distributor on the basis of "not fit for purpose" ?

Sorry, bit confused. When you say "works until I need to calibrate", what exactly is it that is working before you calibrate ?

Anyway you need to calibrate first in Windows/Game Controllers and only then in FMS. Also the USB infterface needs to be the first, preferred or only joystick/game controller. When you try to calibrate what are you seeing ?

BTW the Tx will only work when it's either switched on (like a Futaba) or off (like a JR/Spektrum)...no idea which it is for that particular Tx.

Apologies for not making the problem clear. Thanks for pointing out I need to calibrate in Windows game controllers. When this window is opened I have a choice of a range of 2, 4, and 6 joysticks, and game pads. If I open the custom window what do put in as my controllers name ? There are also a number of radio buttons that appear to need to be configured. As far as calibrating in FMS is concerned I can get as far as the calibration window. From past experience I can remember that the vertical blue bars then moved to show there is a connection and the sticks took control. This time nothing happens. :(
