I like to have the wind coming down the runway. If you want to practice cross-wind landings then you can change the direction. I use 268 degrees in world.scn with 3 m/s speed and .5 m/s gusts.

For any other site, try setting the throttle to zero and the wind pretty high, like 8 m/s depending on the weight of your model. The airplane will point it's nose in the direction of the wind. Keep adjusting the degrees until you have it where you want it.

The plane always faces West when it is initialized. If you set the wind direction to 270 degrees, it will blow from the West, straight down the runway.
