Spektrum DX6 with USB cable

I am building a 450S T-REX kit and with it I have a Spektrum DX6 radio I purchased cables with USB connection but am unable to get it to work with FMS. My computer recognizes the radio but can not calibrate it with the FMS program. I have tried all of the combinations on the calibrate page with no luck. This is the first kit I have ever built so green would be the key word. Any help would be appreciated. Also with the cables came a disc with additional models for FMS but I assume it needs a password to download, the company I bought this from said nothing, anybody run into this? Thanks
