Reality and Fms

Just a little two questions I’d like to know the answer to. I’m training on my Ready 2 at my local aero club and I use fms for some practice while I’m not up their, but my question is this:

What can Fms teach me and let me practice?
But
What wont it teach me and allow me to practice that I can only learn in reality?

I know you have more relaxed feelings in Fms, while in reality you know if it goes wrong it will end in tears but I’m talking about they flying side of it.

These are very good questions which do not have a straightforward answer. I will try to explain what I think are the strengths and where lie the problems of FMS (and actually any other simulator I know of).
FMS will certainly teach you fingertips to think for you. In the beginning, you will have to think "now I want to go up therefor I have to pull the right stick", as you become more used to FMS you will not have to think about it, your fingertips will automatically do it for you.
Perhaps the most tricky part will be turning right (or left) when the model comes towards you. Within a few hours this will also become automatic.

The problems I encountered were with models that were too permissive in regard to the real world. There are a lot of FMS models, some are closer than others to the real behaviour of a plane.

Some examples:
Some of my real-life planes do not go straight up and loop when I pull the stick. Unless I dive first in order to accumulate speed, they will stall half way.
Planes never fly in straight line. They are imperfect and the air is an imperfect medium. You need to correct their course a few times every second.
When close to the ground, planes tend to be more jumpy than in mid-air. I have no idea why. Perhaps its not really so, but a sudden loss of 50 cm of altitude is much more problematic when you are at 1 meter that when you are at 30.
So let me conclude: You must be an instinctive FMS pilot in order to encounter the surprises a real-life model will confront you with.

Thanks thats helped alot in understanding what I should expect in reality and what in Simulation.
I'll keep that in mind.
