FMS, will it work for me?

Should I try to get ppjoy to make my Honeybee radio work with my PC for helicopter flight sim, or should I buy FMS on disk with a "radio" and USB cable to connect to my PC. I just want to start learning, and not wondering whether FMS will work for me. Thanks much, Bob

Rofl....it seems there are many different opinions on that one, Bob. Take a look around the forum and then make your mind up. I recently bought my FMS and Esky from a model fair where there were many different simulators ranging from £20 to £160...I unfortunately bought the £20 one. If you are a computer whizz kid you might get it to work!

Recieved your email and replied but the reply appears in my outbox rather than my sent items box and there doesn't seem to be a way of sending it from there.
If you want my sim and controller, and you live in the UK, it's yours for the cost of the postage...I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I accepted money for it - lol.
Send me a private email address (in which we know we have sent an email!!) and we can arrange.

@Rolo: Please keep in mind that the FMS can NOT be sold. The FMS is free software and can be redistributed only free of charge. If you have "bought" your FMS then please let me know where from.
@HoverBob: You should NOT buy FMS. Just download it from this website. As for the hardware: I suggest you buy hardware that connects your rc radio as joystick to your pc. That way you can use it with any simulator or game (including FMS) that supports joysticks. That way, even if you don't like the FMS you can still use your hardware with other flight sims (supporting joysticks). You can as well downlaod and install the FMS without joystick. The control with the keyboard is only for testing purpose, so you won't get any "real" response from the models with keyboard only. But to take a look at the FMS the keyboard is ok.

On Saturday 20th May I went to Sandown Model Symposium at Esher near London, UK. (www.sandownmodelsymposium.com).
This is a large model fair with demonstrations, stalls, and model shops. One stall, run by a London hobby shop, was demonstrating FMS on a computer using the E Sky controller. I had a go on the simulator, liked it and bought it for the advertised £20.
What I received was a brown box written mostly in Japanese. This contained an E Sky controller, a disc which has FMS Flying Model Simulator and E Sky written on the label, and a sheet of printed paper with instructions on how to install the FMS disc and set up the controller. This has screenshots of the FMS set-up procedure and configuration of the E Sky controller. The disc turned out to be the 8.3 version.
The box displays photographs of planes that are found on the FMS programs. It gives the system requirements details, and under a heading on the side of the box of 'Simulators Supported' it states 'FMS Version2.0 Beta7 and FMS Version2.0 Alpha8.4.
It doesn't give information of any other simulators or flight sims. The box states it contains user manual, remote controller, and CD-ROM, so as far as I was concerned I was buying an FMS flight simulator kit controlled by an E Sky transmitter. I was told by the salesman that I could download further planes and scenery from FMS online, but that is all I knew about it at that time.
E Sky can apparently be found at www.esky-SZ.com
Now that you advise me that FMS cannot be sold I am sure the distributers will say they are selling an E Sky transmitter with a 'free' FMS disc but that's not the way it is advertised or portrayed.
I do have the details of the London hobby shop if you require them. Let me know and I will send them via PM.

Well, Michael...this is not the shop I bought mine from, but it is the identical package. This seems to be a US distributer and it does say on this advertisement that the disc is 'free' but it doesn't actually say that on the box itself and it is being distributed as an FMS/Esky package.
