Minicopter with RC System controller 2070

My wife bought me this as a Christmas present. fantastic. There's no information with the radio controller, but there's a cable that can be attached to the PC. However, I have no idea what to do next. I have batteries in the controller and the power light comes on ok. However, with the cable plugged into to a serial port and switched on, the PC still doesn't 'see' the controller.any advice most welcome!
