Program to create photorealistic Landscapes!

Postby ICH » Sun Aug 21, 2005 5:15 pm

Hallo,

i like Photoreal Landscapes very much but creating them is a little bit too much work ;-), so I createt a tool that does this task.

You have to load a panoramic image and can adjust the picture to show up correctly. If the picture is not big enough then you can create a fake sky. Also fake ground can created. You can set the skycolor by clicking in the image.
The horizon of the image should be on the red line.

You also can set the outputsize of the images that will be created.
You should also be able to set the number of pictures in x and y direction that are created, but if you select more it gives strange effects in FMS, I dont know why so this opzion is disabled right now.

Then you click the "Create Images" and the "Create pano.scn" Button and you have a photorealistic scenery :-) !!!

You need the VisualBasic Runtime files ! If you don't have them search for them in Google!

Sorry for my bad English ;-)

Quite nice, but there isn't the ground and the sky is not very realistic... I prefer do it myself I think that ( for the moment ) it's more realistic. :;):

Would it be possible to see some screen shots of the landscape when used in FMS.
Do you support collisions?
Thanks,
Phil.

The BMP files used in FMS does not form part of the collision detection. All obstacles must be declared in the SCN file. This file gives the co-ordinates used for collision detection.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

I was wondering how he created the 3D landscape from the hi-res pics.

Very nice work!

I had a lot of fun creating my garden and my kitchen as flying grounds.

In case you are working on further versions, I would like to become your beta tester!

Suggestions for the new version :

1. Since I combined 8 pictures for full 360 degree view, it would be nice to to add a multiple input for pictures.

2. copy and paste of small areas taken from ground and sky instead of the standard you have choosen so far "the ground is terrible ;)"

Overall a very nice piece of fast photorealistic scenery development.

If ppl dont like the sky and grounds, just replace it with your own creations :D

Tkx a lot for your effort ICH

Hi @ all

Because of the ground, i know it looks terrible ;-), i will add a way to include another one easily I think. But the skycolor can be changed by clicking in the preview image!!! If the original image is not big enough the color will automatically fade into the chosen sky-color!

At the moment I'm trying to use a sphere as the surface to project the image on, but it only works with one single image at the moment, you can't get a good resolution with this ...
Hopefully this will change :-) (probably I'll have to do it myself ...)

I'm glad that you already like the program !!!
