That how I became a proficient R/C pilot , from all of the dead
sticks I've encountered.
A lot of reason why an engine will cut out. Mufflers coming loose,
over heating..running too lean ..pinch fuel lines. and of course
running out of fuel becuase I'm having too much fun.
Realisticly in real life on a dead stick anytime she makes it down
in one piece it's a good landing.lol Because the enigne will
die whenever it wants to and the model might hot have enough
alititude or not so good of a posistion..too far from the field
or inverted.lol
Rule number # 1 don't panic..lol
it's also easier to land or make final touch down when the model
is going away from you during flairing or in landing period.
I make a habit of walking toward the model in the direction the
model is approching the landing strip...to make sure i clear the
fence lol , plus the model will be going away from me on final touch
down
plus there's other things such as fluttering cuasing control surface
to fail, bent rods, or hinges failing. So i don't trip so hard when
some of the models in FMS aren't perfectly trim. i like them that
way.
I've lost wheels during flights.lol
practice on as many different models as you can. this way it'll
help you if you get in trouble at the field. Depending what went
wrong...it's going to be different everytime.lol
