Larger landscapes anywhere? - Why are the landscape tiles so small?

I'm new here and love this sim. I was wondering though, why are the landscape tiles so small? It's so easy to fly off the tile and just end up in neverending sky. Is it not possible in the maths of the tile development to make the tiles neverending, or even repeat? Also, is it not possible to get a following view from slightly above to take full advantage of the views of the landscapes beneath? Roy.

The whole point is to simulate flying a real model, i.e. with you standing by the runway with your trannie in your hand.
You'd lose sight of it long before you ran out of scenery!

if you really want never ending landscape, buy MS Flight Simulator 2002 Pro...

you can edit the size of the landscape. for example you can make it twice as big. but when you do this you mess other stuff up.

i have been playing around with those settings to see if i can make a good peice of big sceanery.

i do not know how well it can be done though. i realy don't have a problem with the current size. it would just be cool to have the ability to make the landscape bigger if you need it.

by the way, even realfight g2 has a tile that i think is the same size as in FMS. and that cost $200.
