fms 2.0 alpha 8 planes

could any body get the bate 7 planes to work on alpha 8

the par file is deferant if you use a alpha 8 par file and rename it as one of the beta 7 par files then it work, but I got a big collection and dont want to go throug all of that
and besides if you do that all the planes will have the same setup

Ps : does any body have a plan

It would be possible to convert a beta 7 to an alpha 8 par file, but it would not be prudent. There is much more information in alpha 8 offering a lot more control to the e-model builder. Where 7 had one lift, drag, moment number for the whole plane, 8 has numbers for each airfoil. Beta 7 had one thrust number, alpha 8 builds up the thrust number from information about the model like prop pitch, motor speed etc. A crash in beta 7 usually involved the CG hitting an object. Several collision points are identified in alpha 8.

It'd be easy enough to translate 7 .par to a generic 8 .par but hardly seems optimal for what's now available in alpha 8.

yes it works but it does not make a dif coz the file you use to rename and the new palne will act the sam in the air since you are using the alpha 8 par but the bate 7 look

do you think the will bring out a pro to run and convert or will this have to be done manualy , I hope not I got +- 200 Planes and Hellies

The easiest changes in the 8 .par file are just like the 7 .par file.

Change the model mass "Masse des Modells" to lighten the model.

Change the pitch "Steigung des Propellors" or diameter of the prop "Propellerdurchmesser" to increase thrust.

Change the max flap deflection to improve handling for both ailerons, elevator and rudder. Each of those numbers are called "maximaler Ausschlag" under each "Flache" surface. In the .par files seen for alpha8 surface 1 is left wing/aileron, surface 2 is right wing/aileron, surface 3 is elevator, surface 4 is rudder. If the deflection doesn't provide enough change, change the chord length of the flap "Klappentiefe".

If the model doesn't seem to fly right, you can also change the Center of Gravity "Position des Schwerpunktes".

That'll get you closer to your actual model without having to invest too much time in understanding the new .par file. Just start with a model performance that's close to yours, copy the .par to your model name and make the obvious modifications.
