E-sky 0404 USB does not respond to calibration

Need some help. Im running Xp Sp2 and are trying to get an 0404 transmitter via the USB cable that came with the LAMA to work. The USB/Transmitter appears as an 5-axis, 3-Buttons joystick in the game controller/control panel with an "OK". The movement of stick however has no effect at all. Same thing if I open FMS 8.5 and does the listed 4-2-1-3 channel settings - no response at all when moving sticks. Should it really show like an 5 axis ?
