DRAGONFLY HELICOPTER - can't get tx to work on xp

hello all i just got a
DRAGONFLY HELICOPTER tryed to hooked up tx to computer for the fms but can't get the tx and computer to talk to each-other. i'm running xp, i hooked it up to the serial port, and yes i put in all the software liked it said. any help.Transmitter with serial interfacecable.
On my WinXP-Laptop I can't get any reaction from the controller.
I tryed PPJoy but no signal...
what can I do?

I have a draganflyer IV that came with a Futaba 4YF transmitter. It wasn't easy but I did manage to get the controller to interface with my computer. The first challenge was to get around the proprietary jack in the back that is used w/ a trainer box. I converted this to an audio jack and added that interface on the upper right hand corner of the transmitter (empty blank off there). Next, I downloaded the futaba drivers for use with smartpropo. Now that's tough to find but I have a copy that was designed for Win2k and barely works - aka, I got it to work but with FMS but good grief, it was buggy. All of this was about a year ago so let me know if you want more details - otherwise, just letting you know that it can be done. -phog

i'm useing the tx that came with the dragonley 22a i don't know who makes so it's kind of hard , i'm doing this on a lap top with the serial port. but thanks. some people on here say it won't work with xp with serial ports on lap tops and some say it will so who knows.

Well, using smartpropo (if it's still available) takes advantage of the mic input on your sound card. You can plug your output from you tx into a mic and actually hear the commands being sent to the servos, play through your computer speakers. Smartpropo would decode this and translate it to create a virtual joystick on your windows os, completely bypassing your serial input. -phog
