What does the exp checkbox does exactly on the calibration dialog? ???

When checked, it will allow for exponential movement of control surfaces.

With exponential, moving the stick around the centre position will not result in much movement of the control surfaces. Hoever, moving from 50% to 100% in one direction, will cause full movement of the surfaces.

Eric is right with his explanation but the real reason for using exponential is to allow the pilot control his sensitive aircraft (for example some fun flys) smoothly and still be able to perform very rapid maneuvers if he wants. Using exponential helps you especially in landings with more agressive airplanes.

I also noticed that use of expo helped me with my 2m glider during winch launches. Glider flies during the launch much quicker and therefore reacts much more abruptly than during normal flying. When I added some expo to rudder launches were smoother and bit easier too (altough they weren't very difficult before either ).

Thanks Stall Turn. I'ver never used exponential mode, only dual rates. Maybe I must start playing with exponential as well. I am battling with my landings on my botom wing sport.

Seems some people at my club are right - you can't fly if you have not flown gliders...
