Recomendations needed - Interface decision

Hi all,
I have an Athlon 2000 PC with 512MB DDR SDRAM running XP home.
Available ports....
1 game,
1 serial,
2 extra USB,
and of course Parallel port.
I have been using Cockpit Master and Cockpit Master Backyard edition with thier parallel port for my Futaba 8U.

I want to use FMS as well so I am trying to figure out which interface would be better for me. I also am getting MS flight simulator 2004 when it comes out this year and wish to use it with the 8U as well.

SO.... What are the recomendations and why?

you need to look at a pic based one or a usb version , the cheaper options will not work with XP

Is there any advantage to going with the USB over the serial PIC version? I have been looking at several sold on Ebay for $30-$50.

The pic version needs a serial port, some modern machines ie notebooks do not have a serial port. And the pic version is usually cheaper around £15-£20

If you want to use your interface with other software as well, it will be better to go for a joystick or USB interface. With the PIC serial interface, you will only be able to use it with FMS.

Ahhhh, That's the decision maker. I was not aware that PIC serial was for FMS only. USB it is then! Thanks for the info.
