Whats a good indication that I am ready to move from the heli's in FMS to the real thing. My heli is already setup by a guy that knows helis, but he also lives a long way from me so I can't go fly with him very often, but I think that I might be ready to try it on my own at least with training gear. Does anybody have any good advice?

I'm far from an authoritive source, but seeing as you've had no response, I'll give you my opinion.

Firstly, I presume you've been learning on the "ThreeDee" heli? If so, you need to download and try out a model named "Hawk II". I was very surprised at how different this flew/hover.

Then, I guess once you can hover, fly circuits and do it nose-in, you can try out the real thing. However, I'm sure many people learned without a Simulator at all, so at any stage that you feel confident or daring, you could try the real thing.
