"Trim" seems off in Alpha 8.5, planes want to dive

I had been playing with FMS Alpha version 8.3 successfully. Now I downloaded and upgraded to version 8.5. Supposedly the physics are more realistic. The glider I have does seem to fly more slowly and realistically.

However the trim is off on all my models now. If I fly in a straight line I consistently have to apply back pressure to my joystick to keep in level flight. Any thoughts on adding trim with a joystick that does not have that feature?

I had gone into the calibration for the joystick and made sure everything was the same. It is. I even tried holding a little down elevator when it asks you to center the sticks, but this is really rough and imprecise.

I will probably go back to 8.3 until I can figure it out since flying is now a chore. Anyone else notice any trim changes? This is with a USB joystick, and again it works perfectly in 8.3 (or the Beta7 version).

Just edit the .par file and give the wings another degree of angle-of-attack or give the horizontal stab another negative degree of AofA. Fixes things right up.

Normal set-up for my models is straight and level at middle throttle, sinking below that and rising above it.

That is a great workaround. However that requires editing par files on quite a few planes. I would question, however, what has changed in the flight physics that the planes are now sinking at mid-throttle and only rise at full throttle. My gliders have no throttle, and therefore always require up trim.

I will make the changes as I do not mind a little extra work on my part.

Yeah, something changed. I noticed it when it happened but didn't have too many 8.x models so just adjusted them all at once. Since the code is alpha, you can expect changes in core physics.

I still see some kind of bug when starting light airplanes with the wind at 270 degrees where the airplane will not turn right just after take-off in the world.scn unless you apply right rudder immediately after initializing the model. Then it flies fine.
