I just downloaded the fms 6.0 and Iam unable to open the zipped file. Please advise me on this step.

There's no such thing as fms 6.0 AFAIK. Do you mean 2.0 Beta 6 (Windows) or 1.60 (DOS) ?

Both are available as self-extracting zip files so you just need to double click on the downloaded file if you got the correct one.
