Okay, a generous friend has given me a Nvidia Geforce 2 MX400, which was gathering dust on a shelf.
Boy does that kick start FMS into life!
To all those who are wondering what graphics card to buy, you really don't need anything more potent than this, unless you are a hardcore gamer!

I have a Blaster PC with a 400mhz cpu 352ram and a geforce2 mx400 64meg agp card. It runs the game excellent. In my opinion the Geforce cards are better than the ATI's. I own both brands.

I run FMS on my old Pentium II 333. I had a matrox card on it but the vieuw was really bad and full of artefacts and missing things.
Now today i finaly bought a second handed Voodoo2 card.
now for crying out loud, it didn't get any better! It works very well with games but FMS seems not to support the 3dfx.
I installed latest drivers but i doesn't help.

For FMS, a voodoo 2 card was a bad choice to make.
That's a 3DFX board and is used for 'glide' based games.
Also none of the 3DFX boards use hardware transform and lighting, so the processor has to do the sums instead- not a good idea when you are running a slow processor.
As far as I'm aware, FMS uses Direct 3D. So you need a card like a Geforce or similar, which can run Direct 3D and also has hardware T & L.
These can be picked up very cheaply these days.
My Geforce 2 MX 32MB cost me a couple of beers from a gaming friend who'd long since upgraded to something more potent. I get between 30-80 FPS 1024x768 with that card.
Since then I've managed to pick up a Geforce 2 Ti 64MB for nothing from an IT manager friend, and that really makes the program move. 40-90 FPS on that card at 1280x1024
BTW, I use the program in 16 bit mode, as I find 32 bit mode doesn't really make much difference to the visuals, just slows the frame rate down.
You can keep your Voodoo 2 card, and run Red Baron 3D with it!
However, use a Geforce card for FMS.
BTW beware of ATI cards, some of the later ones seem to have problems with FMS (i.e. 9500 onwards).

i bought that voodoo 2 card from a mate for my old computer. i payed 2 euro, it was more to thank him for it.
seems like i have bad luck now. i have a geforce 2 in my other computer but that one runs windows xp so i have nothing to connect my transmitter there. ???
