Installing FMS on USb stick ?

Installing FMS on USb stick ?

Postby yetvart » Sat Sep 18, 2010 9:55 pm

Hello everyone

If anyhow possible I would like to use FMS on other computers beside
my home pc. And I would like to know if FMS can be installed on a 4 GB
usb stick ? It seems to be possible to install programs on a flash device
and use those programs on computers which don't have the program
installed.
Thanks in advance

Yes and no. You would need to install FMS on each computer and then install it to the USB device which would have to have the same drive letter on each computer. Like many Windows computers FMS stores critical program information within the Windows registry and not on the program destination drive.

Hello Ggunners :D

Thanks for the quick reply.

If I can't do without installing the programme on the other PC its a NO GO !
Because at my work during the nightshifts I would like to play FMS and there are
plenty of PC's available but installing private programmes is not possible or even allowed.
If I understand your answer correctly this would mean than even if I have FMS installed
on an external drive on my home pc , and take this with me and connect to the pc's at work
I would come up aganst the same problems with the registry as with the flash drive .
So I guess I'm left with dragging my laptop to work

Unless .... I just found an article about " virtual pc " and this is about installing your
own windows on a flash drive , and just maybe this combined with installing FMS on
that same flash drive could solve my problem  But I would have to look into this
some further.

Thanks so far,
